Our Step Up SavingsTM account is a unique program that helps accelerate savings and make it more likely for those in our community to access higher education. We’ve designed this account to meet and match deposits over the years and celebrate the beginnings and milestones of a strong educational future for your child.
Here's how it works, Excite Credit Union will deposit:
- $50 in the account at opening. No opening deposit is required from you.
- $25 in the account on the child’s 5th, 10th, 15th and 18th birthdays
- Up to $25 each year in matching deposits*
- Dividends of 5% APY** on balances up to $2,500

In addition to Step Up Savings, Excite members also have access to Youth Savings, and Go Savings, our high yield savings account, as well as money market accounts and additional savings accounts.

You can! You can set up the transfer online, via fax, or in person at one of our branches.
In addition to automatic transfers and making deposits via our mobile app, you can also make deposits at our cooperating ATMs.
Make your deposit on business days before 3pm, and you’ll have immediate access to the first $500 of the amount you deposited.
Your accounts are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
*A minimum of $25 must be deposited into the account each year to earn the match. **APY = “Annual Percentage Yield.”
Must be eligible for membership and open a Step Up low-income savings account in order to join Excite Credit Union®️ and obtain any product or service. Only one Step Up Savings Account is allowed per member.
There is no minimum balance required to open a Step Up Savings Account. There is no minimum account balance required to earn the 5% APY, but the maximum account balance to earn this APY is $2,500.
Any account balance over $2500 will earn 0.50% APY. Early closure (prior to age 18) or any withdrawal forfeits all past and future Excite Credit Union deposits, bonuses or matches (except dividends).
Other restrictions may apply. Excite Credit Union reserves the right to alter the account and requirements as needed.
